WHAT WE DID THIS YEAR AT THE DORCUS PROJECT

I have taken a while to update this blog but I am sorry now I will be active. First I had to learn how all this works but I believe slowly but surely I will get there.

I would like to thank everyone that has been praying for the dorcus project in Uganda thank you. The project is doing well now, we had some bamps but I know that God being our source all is well.

We have spent some time trying to build the shelter for the animals. Thia year that was done through the help of our friends the Grove and the Beach. Also we needed our water project to be finishe which was done excellently by the help of Chris Anderson who gave us the Pump and the accessories were bout by Pastor Kieth and Linda Every, PPNI ministries, Pastor Jerad Mlongecha and His church and brother Young.

Through your Donations we managed to do alot of work and empowered some of the widows and orphans where we thought it fit.

September Progression

What have u done with the resourses at your disposal? How have you helped those that need your helping hand. Welcome to Dorcus Project Uganda that has shown progression through our piggery project that started early this year.
We thank the Lord that has allowed us to progressively move forward despite of the hardships we have faced over time. We are constantly moving towards our goal.

The good news this months is that we are having about four of our females pigs soon giving birth to piglets. This ensures our expansion at the farm.
"This project has been an enlightenment to me in showing me the need to change my life and set my heart in helping those who are hurting more than myself. So I would ask you to join hands with me and let us build a community filled with love and compassion as Jesus told us from the beginning to love one another. thank you for standing with us God bless you all." August Update

Hello Friends,

This week  are proud to bring yet another update about the Dorcus Piggery project in Uganda. Generally we are doing very and God is yet to  bless us  with more animals since we have more than three pig pregnant.

The Good News is that we have about 4 confirmed pigs pregnant and in about two months and couple of weeks we are expecting huge numbers when these pig give birth. however the building structure needs to be revamped inside. The pigs have almost destroyed each and every single segment inside. We are preparing to make sure that we cater for this problem which needs immediate attention. We need to renovate inside which will entail revamping the floor and segments closures which have been destroyed.

We need to catter for this as we prepare room for the expectant pigs so we can create anough room for them to have safe delivery.

We are currently facing a situation of skin disorder to some pigs which has some caused worries to us. We have isolated these animals so that they don't infect others and we are closely monitoring their recovery.

We have one one the pig that gave birth to four piglets but i was told that three died because their mother did want to feed them & they were born too weak. One survived and there high chances that it will survive though still her mother does want feed her.

We are grateful to God that we are slowly but steady, we are moving quite well.

we ounce again thank you for your support and encourage you continue doing so.

June - July Farm Update

Hello friends, I would like to share some great news with you that Dorcus Farm Project is gradually progressing, we have some of our pigs giving birth to a number of piglets since the time I left Uganda. One of the pig gave birth to 6 piglets and the other gave birth to 9 piglets. Unfortunately, of the 9 piglets, 3 of them died and the rest of the six have survived.
One of other pig had problems during its pregnancy and unfortunately aborted all 8 piglets before maturity. we had the that treat veterinary officer and hopefully she will do us proud next time she conceives.

One a positive note: one of the pig also gave birth to 7 healthy piglets and we are very sure they will survive.

Some of the problems the farm is facing right know are;
  1. Some  Piglets are not feeding well. They have resisted breast feeding as well as the feeds provided to them. We have been recommended to give them a special feed which contains either soya or silver pounded fish (mukene). Some piglet having fever which led to some of them to succumb to death

  2. The pigs have damaged their cubicles great deal which gives the people taking care of them problems especially during the time when they are providing them feeds. This problems has also led the pigs to move around which some times cause them to fight and harm each other. The cubicle need to be renovated starting with the replacement of the doors for the cubicles, floor and trenches.

  3. With the higher inflation in Uganda, It has cause almost feeds to double the amount they were before in the last 4 months. Pigs feeds are currently expensive (double the amount they were in the past 4 months) which has some times brought the insufficiency and hence the animals not eating the right amounts.
  4. We also need a pig sauce pan and fuel in terms of firewood that will enable us to provide cooked feeds for the pigs.
With the above problems catered for i time, the farm should up and running smoothly as its supposed to.
The good is is despite of the above mentioned problems, we progressively moving forward. We now have a total of 43 pigs in our farm, and others on the way.
Ounce again we would like to thank all our friends who have supported us, may the Lord Bless you All as you've blessed us.

Docus Project Uganda

Pastor Christine Balabyekkubo in the filed
Hello Friends, I just wanted to let you know that on 2nd January one of the saws gave birth to ten piglets and we lost two of those. At the moment we have eight piglets.
On the 3rd of January, another saw gave birth to seven piglets. Beacuse of the   unfinished building, as the little one were moving out, we lost two of them. So we bless the Lord that we have now thirteen piglets all together.

The challenge we still have is transportation. We need a van which we can use multipurpose usage like transporting the feed, bringing the vet and carrying youth to the farm. I received a pump from brother Chris in Pennsylvania but I have not been able to use it. I need about $ 500 for us to buy the accessories. I already bought the tank but am calling  on any body that is willing to help us so that we can have the water running.
Otherwise every thing has been going on well, i have three workers which is a blessing and we're hoping that as we continue we be able to do a good job.

We have been renting this place, fortunately the owner has decided to sell it to us at $ 15,000 which is really a good price and blessing. We are asking for your prayers and financial donations. I want to thank you for all support and prayers and time that you have put in  for us to get to this place. We pray that the almighty God will continue to shine on you and bless you as you've blessed us.

Since Rev. Christine came back to Uganda, the construction of a better pig sty & general renovation of the sorrounding space which on top of her agenda. The area was all pushy & practically nothing could go on with out clearing the push bush.

She hired people from the Kojja a resident and neighbor to clear all the bush within a few days though a lot of work need to be done.
